Man Post Bail in Sex Assault - Local News Events Arrest
A man is free on bail after he was charged with sexually assaulting a 14 year old girl. Rafael Vera was released on $50,000 bail Saturday, the day after he was arrested on one count of sexual assault of a child.
An arrest warrant affidavit says Vera and the teen exchanged text messages and she agreed to skip school and meet him at Mission North Burial Park. The teen said Vera gave her marijuana and alcohol and then assaulted her in a vehicle that reportedly belongs to Vera’s girlfriend.
The teen told police she was eventually able to get away. She told a friend, who told police that Vera had tried to meet up with her too, but she ignored his request and told her parents. The friend said the victim met Vera at a Target store and identified himself as an 18 years old high school senior.
